Is a New Right Back required ?
With the emergence of Ngakia and Johnson in our first team squad as well as of having Fredericks, should we still be looking in the summer for another one ?

Fredericks is an absolute disaster of a player. Won’t play at the top level for any other club.

Moussa Wague is a pocket version of BONDSO

We haven't had a decent RB since Breacker and Kenny Brown imo.

Almost every time he gets the ball it ends with us losing possession. You don't see that very often in top leagues. It's very refreshing to have a rb that can actually pass/cross the ball to his teammate.

Re: Is a New Right Back required ?
Fredericks is not great on the ball no, but he's a perfectly reasonable modern day defensive fullback and not remotely ine of our biggest issues.

He's fast, recovers well, jockeys we'll defensively and rarely gets beaten defensively.

Fredericks is not a footballer

To be honest I think we have positions we need more, what with Fredericks, Ngakia and Johnson all contenders at right back (for next season).

Left back to challenge Cresswell, another worth having centre mid, a cf to put pressure on Haller assuming he even stays and arguably a CB given Balbuena seems to have dropped off are all more pressing needs for me.

right back is Moussa Wague.
left back is Racine Coly.

We've have to spend more than £50m to get both Aarons and Lewis.

No chance.

Re: Is a New left Back required ?
I'd go along with whoever suggested signing Norwich's two full backs, Aarons and Lewis. Both are a massive upgrade on anything that we've got and are young.

Fredericks is made of glass and apart from having pace is not particularly good at the defensive side of the game. So we should look to offload and replace with Aarons.

Think were all in agreement that Masuaku needs to be moved on.

As for Ngakia and Johnson, both look promising but still very early days. In Johnson's case there is also a particular concern about injuries, so may be better to send him out on loan next season or keep him in the under 23's a bit longer and see how he holds out in that respect.

Aaron Hickey has many of the attributes of
Julian DICKS had at the same age

And now looking, Antonio took a turn there, which needs to be avoided.

Re: Is a New left Back required ?
A couple seasons ago, I think, we had two (one fairly injury prone) fullbacks and brought two in, sort of (and then sent one out)

Zabaleta, Byram, Johnson and Fredericks.

Going into next year, we will have Fredericks, Johnson ((who has played one Premiership game since, I believe), Ngakia

I don't think it is unreasonable to expect similar in terms of bringing someone in.

I would like to see Johnson have a run and then if he doesn't do well we definitely need a new rightback

Re: Is a New left Back required ?
I think we need to see more of Ngkakia before we make a decision. If he turns out another Diangana, who starts brightly then fades, it might be better to give him a season in the Championship.

If so, then yes, we might need a veteran RB to hold the fort for a season or so.

Van Aanholt is nearly 30 so pretty much a terrible signing at almost any price.

Re: Is a New left Back required ?
Why would palace sell van anholt? not like we're going to offer the ridiculous money it would take for them to not be able to turn down.

Also why would he come to us? very sideways move at best really.

Masuaku is a left back?!

That's news to me.

Selling both our LB in one window would not be ideal.
